Club News Round 1

Murrayville

Welcome all! It’s great to see a crowd back in the ‘Ville ready for Round 1. Welcome to Brown’s Well – we hope it’s a great day of footy and netball out there today. The teams are keen for their first match up and we look forward to a tough opposition.

You’ll see some new faces around our club today. Alicia Hogan has stepped up as the new Netball President, with Carly Heintze finishing up, and Amy Jenzen as Vice and Steph Morris as Secretary will be around supporting Alicia throughout the season. Clayton Sporn and Albert Beer have taken on the Football President role as Co-Presidents – they say two heads are better than one, so those two giants should be pillars you can spot through the crowd if you need anything at all! Supporting their backs are our two vices: Blake Edwards and Clint Cameron. We thank Kieran Kelly and Drew Crane for their leadership over the past few years and are excited to see what the future brings. You’ll still see Mel running around as Secretary, so if you’ve got any questions, just look out for one of our crew and we’ll try to help out where we can.

It's excellent to see the grounds in such excellent condition. Everyone has put in an outstanding effort at working bees, trainings and ongoing maintenance to get the place spick and span ready for today.

Thank you to our new and returning sponsors – it’s great to have you part of our Hub and we’re excited to have you on board for the 2025 season.

Welcome also to our new players and their families. We can’t wait to see what you bring to the Blues Family and welcome you in with open arms!

Tonight, stick around for a delicious and infamous Schnitzel dinner, with some of our ANZAC Guernseys being auctioned off, and then an iPod shuffle to kick off the season of events and socialising around the Hub.

See Albert or the boys at the gate for a Lucky Margin ticket (limited to 100 tickets) for $2 each, or head to Alicia to nab your song for tonight for $10. There are only 40 songs so make sure you’re organised and quick! You don’t want to miss out!

There’s lots happening around the Hub today so kick back and enjoy the day, and we can’t wait to hear that cheering - Go Blues!

Brown’s Well

With a sour taste left in the mouth from last years grand final defeat the 2025 Brownswell bombers are set to take off again in a grand final rematch at Murrayville. Although losing substantial numbers to players retiring and moving on from the club, the boys have regrouped and are setting their sights on making their third grand final in a row with new coach Nathan Francis to lead them into battle. On the netball side, A grade coach Shane Phillips and B grade coach, club legend Megan Rudd have got the girls fit and ready to go, with the B grade hoping to defend their last years premiership winning season and the A grade hopeful to make a deep and meaningful finals run. Wishing all of our new coaches and all three of our teams the very best for this year’s mvfnl season!

Wunkar

Season 2025 begins today as WFNC host Sedan Cambrai. Excitement is at an all time high as we can finally get cracking after a delayed start thanks to the Gather Round and Easter. WFNC welcome both Mark Wilksch and Tina Stasinowski back as our Football and Netball coaches. Retaining their services was a priority during the off season as the quality of their work is second to none. Mark and Tina have been training their squads since January, with plenty of old and new faces ready to make an impact and get off to a winning start.

The culinary team at WFNC have finished their pre season and are unleashing a seafood smorgasbord featuring Red Emperor and Nannygai, kindly donated by our very own deep sea fisherman Shane Schulz. Also on the menu are prawn twisters, battered fish and calamari all served with chips and salad for $20. Not staying for tea? Then grab a takeaway pizza and experience the magic of the famous WFNC wood oven.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Sedan Cambrai

And just like that season 2025 is here! For the SCFNC Magpies that means the 40th anniversary of the club as we know it. Four associations, some epic rivalries and plenty of ups and downs have led us here. During the season we will be holding several celebratory events and would love to hear from anyone with some yarns to tell.

We would like to welcome Shane Cooke and his family to the club. Shane has taken on the role of A grade football coach for 2025 and we’re looking forward to working with him to build our team back up. We also welcome back Kimberley McGorman and Kate Harris who are our A and B grade netball coaches, respectively. The girls have built a strong netball foundation sand were excited to see that grow.

Paringa

Welcome to the Paringa Sporting Complex for our first games of season 2025! Our new and vibrant committee and our new on-field teams have been working extremely hard in the off season to revitalise our club after a couple of really tough years. Our netballers will return to A grade this season under the helm of coach Codie Tilbrook. Codie and her off-sider Emma Roissetter have put together a much more competitive team this season and are looking forward to the challenge of playing at the top level again. Nick Dillon has returned as coach for the first time since 2016 and has had a focus on building club culture and standards. The team is averaging around 18 players at training so far which is a big jump from last year, and pleasingly they are all pulling in the same direction. We look forward to the challenge of playing against the always tough BSR teams today. Welcome also to our Auskickers and their families, who will have plenty of fun with our coordinator Jamie Gudgeon. Tonight we have our Season Launch and Players Auction. We invite all players, officials, supporters, life members and sponsors to attend, with dinner the launch commencing at 7.30pm in the Paringa Hotel beer garden and the Auction to begin at 8pm. The club is also pleased to announce it will hold the 1995 and 2005 premiership reunions on Saturday, June 21, when we host Brown’s Well. John Rees coached the Swans to their first flag in 16 years in 1995 when we beat the Bombers, while Brett Blackwell led the Swans to a thrilling win over Cobdogla in 2005. We wish both of our teams luck today and we’ll see you at the Paringa Hotel for presentations following dinner tonight.

BSR

Hello from the Blanchetown Swan Reach Football Netball Club, we couldn’t be more excited to see the 2025 season finally upon us. The BSR Redbacks are ready to get stuck in, and we’re kicking things off with one of the big road trips – heading to Paringa for Round 1. It’s a great way to test ourselves early and set the tone for the year ahead. We’ve had a really positive off-season on the football front. We’ve managed to recruit a few key players who I know will make a real impact on the field. David Mapstone will be one to watch, don't be fooled by his soccer career, we think his footy debut will be just as successful. Just as exciting is the return of a couple of familiar faces — Shannon Tanner and Blake Webster — who bring experience, leadership and plenty of Redbacks spirit back into the squad. The boys have been working hard on the track and are keen to make this season one to remember. Our netballers have also been putting in a solid pre-season. Despite a few challenges around numbers, the commitment and energy from the girls has been fantastic. Training has been strong, and the teams are ready to compete with that trademark BSR grit and determination. There’s a real buzz around the club this year — from the players, coaches, volunteers and supporters alike. We’re proud of the culture we’ve built, and we can’t wait to see what this season brings. Let’s go, Redbacks!
